Energy Performance Certificates (EPC's)
Since the 1st October 2008 EPC’s have been required for the construction sale or let of virtually all, non domestic buildings which include a heated or cooled environment.
In order to produce EPC’s and recommendation reports, energy assessors must be a member of an accredited scheme approved by the secretary of state.

Code for Sustainable Homes
In recent years this has become an increasingly important issue with new houses. With the developments in legislation and a greater awareness of sustainable issues generally it will become even more important.
A code rating is a mandatory requirement on all new residential developments. It is separate from the Building Regulations and requires the developer to declare the sustainability of their properties based on a number of criteria.
