Cumnor Hill, Oxford

The construction of a new 72 bed, 3 storey, split-level care home at The Breeches, Cumnor Hill, Oxford was developed on a steeply sloping site and fire appliance access is particularly challenging. Assent assisted by suggesting a dry riser to aid fire-fighting and early discussions with the fire authority to ensure the consultation was as smooth as possible.

The architects were Hay Associates and the contractor was Lawrence Baker who wanted to create a split level with open plan communal resident’s facilities that reflected modern living.
