New Regulations coming October 2015

7th May 2015

The government have announced a series of new Building Regulations that will come into force on the 1st October 2015. The changes to the regulations this year are focused on new dwellings. There are changes to Part M access and facilities in that there will be 3 levels of compliance. The minimum basic level is mandatory however there will be two others optional levels based on planning approvals stipulating which one will be required.

There will also be changes to the water efficiency requirements and suitable bin storage for dwellings.

There will be a new set of requirements for security under Part Q of the regulations which will recommend the levels of security needed for new dwellings and finally we will look at the new space requirements in design for habitable spaces in dwellings based on bed spaces. This is not a building regulation issue but will be enforced by planners.

Assent are holding a series of FREE seminars to help clients prepare for the changes.
