Assent joins Building a Safer Future Charter

30th November 2020

Assent Building Control are pleased to announce they are now a Registered Signatory of the Building a Safer Future Charter.

The Building a Safer Future Charter has been created to promote an urgent and positive culture and behaviour change in the safety of the built environment. Other signatories include the NHBC, LABC, Barratt Homes, CIC, Kier, Jarvis, RICS, Manchester City Council and CLC.

Assent Building Control recognises that becoming a Registered Signatory is an important first step towards achieving the culture and behavioural change required in relation to the Charter’s objectives around building safety.

Iain Thomson, CEO said “In confirming our support as a Registered Signatory, we will now be working to ensure that we embed the principles of the Charter into our organisation’s activities.

The Charter Commitments are a key mechanism to drive the culture change and action required to improve building safety by making improvements to current practice and behaviours.

Thomson added “There are five core commitments designed to promote change and action, many of which we already actively adhere to. By becoming a signatory we are further committing to delivering excellence, best practice and to continually strive for improvements in our practices and delivery of services.”
