Assent Building Control Associate appointed as Vice Chairperson of ACAI
12th November 2020

Assent Building Control Associate Paul Le Mare has been appointed as the Vice Chairperson of the Association of Consultant Approved Inspectors (ACAI), the member organisation representing the voice of private sector building control.

Based at the Assent Surrey office, Le Mare brings nearly two decades of building control experience to his position and was appointed at the ACAI AGM in October 2020. As part of his role, he will work with the ACAI to engage with stakeholders on the Building Regulations Reform.

Over the last three years Le Mare has been working tirelessly to lobby Parliament in order to ‘raise the bar’ regarding fire safety understanding within the building control and wider construction industry.

Of his appointment he commented “I am delighted to take up this role within ACAI. Widening the understanding of building control and raising standards is something both personally and professionally that I am very passionate about”

He added “Assent have been extremely supportive of all the lobbying work I have undertaken and of my position as Vice Chairman. They support the ACAI in their mission to increase awareness and understanding of private sector building control and in achieving the highest building safety standards possible”

As a member of the ACAI executive committee, Le Mare will ensure that the committee acts in the best interests of members and the public, holding the executives to account. He will also be working to formulate strategies by bringing independent, external perspectives to matters affecting building control.
