How is Building Control changing in the Covid-19 era and beyond?

From building hospitals and changing flammable cladding to navigating Brexit, construction during the COVID-19 pandemic hasn’t come without its challenges.
An increase in home extensions and renovation projects have resulted in a shortage of competent approved inspectors in the industry. Jane Keely wants to change this by encouraging young people and women into the built environment sector by appointing degree level apprentices and mentoring at Assent Building Control.
In terms of buildings, insulating tight and ventilating right will be more critical than ever in spaces such as classrooms and pubs going forward. She also states that investment in technology and remote inspections will become more prevalent in the industry. Suggesting some inspections definitely still do need a person there on-site to assess the conditions of the ground, but remote inspections will become more common place.
