Offsite Construction and Building Control – a Perfect Match?

Offsite Construction and Building Control – a Perfect Match?
29th September 2021

Offsite construction has been making waves in the built environment for some time now. Offering speed, sustainability and precision, we are seeing many parts of the industry embrace this future focused method of construction. And with government initiatives such as the DfE offsite framework and pressure from the Housing, Communities and Local Government Committee for ministers to centre offsite at the core of its mission to build 300,000 new homes per year by the mid-2020s, it’s showing no signs of slowing down.

There is however, one part of the industry that has been late to catch up, and that’s building regulations. John Miles – Technical Manager at Assent Building Control, spoke to the Offsite Hub about the huge benefits that offsite construction can bring to building control, why the sector has been slow to adapt, the differences in the inspection process and what the building control sector must do to accommodate offsite.

You can read a much more detailed version online at Offsite Hub. If you’d like to discuss how Assent can support your building projects in 2022, please get in touch.
