Siemens Train Factory, Goole
Architect: AHR

Assent supported the design team regarding the unique compliance risks in developing a new train manufacturing facility. The proposed Siemens facility deepens the company’s commitment to the UK rail sector, while helping to improve the distribution of vital infrastructure spending. There are two decisive reasons why Siemens chose Goole in East Yorkshire as the site for a new rail factory. Access to rail network and access to a skilled workforce.
The phased development of the 67-acre site has an overall investment of £200 million, with the new factory creating up to 700 skilled jobs in engineering and manufacturing – as well as employing an additional 250 people during the construction phase, with an estimated 1,700 indirect roles throughout the UK supply chain. The development includes manufacturing and commissioning buildings, warehouses, offices, and stabling sidings with potential for the development of a test track
