Designed by Studio Four Architects Ltd – The R.J.Mitchell wind tunnel is the largest wind tunnel in the UK University sector, built from timber and dating back to the 1920’s, originally donated to the University from Farnborough. The facility is used by many outside organisations and ventures as well as the students including America’s Cup yachts, British Olympic athletes, Cycling and Formula 1 customers.
The 2 storey extension to the facility provides a new entrance, viewing gallery onto the running bed and better welfare facilities. The project was completed at the end of 2013, and opened by Chris Boardman MBE
